Tires & Wheels Service
REGULARLY INSPECT YOUR TIRES & WHEELS
As long as our tires are full of air and keep our vehicles rolling forward, we often assume that they're in good condition. It's extremely easy to forget to check the condition of your tires, unless you see a warning light on the dashboard. Periodically, you should assess the overall wear of the tread and any uneven wear that results from the natural functioning of your car. Rotating your tires can help prevent a potentially dangerous driving situation caused by uneven wear or 'bald' tires.
When tires are worn down or 'bald', they are more susceptible to being punctured from debris on the road. The outer layer of the tire is so thin, that the inner base tire can be punctured easily from glass, nails, rocks, etc.
The Importance of Tire Rotation
Every day driving exposes our tires to many kinds of wear and tear. Rear tires usually wear in a uniform way, but front tires can wear unevenly due to the different numbers of left and right turns we take and the road conditions. Front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, and all wheel drive vehicles also have differing wear patterns. Faulty alignment can cause tires to wear unevenly too. Worn tires can cause blowouts, hydroplaning in the rain, poor handling, wheel vibration, etc.
Too many drivers think of tire rotation as an optional luxury with little effect on their daily travel. Most of us don't discover problems with our tires until something happens to one of them on the road, sometimes at very high speeds - which is far more dangerous and costly than regularly rotating your tires. Petty Motorworks is ready to help you be vigilant about these issues and ensure the longest life possible for your tires.
